About this event
This conversational class will explore how to make decisions and communicate with loved ones in advance in order to improve our one chance to die well. We’ll look at documents (Advance Directive and POLST) as well as enhanced methods to ensure our wishes are known and followed. We’ll consider options like Medical Aid in Dying and issues that arise with a diagnosis of progressive dementia.
Presenter: Gretchen Brauer-Rieke, RN (ret), MSN
Gretchen is a retired nurse-practitioner – currently an Advance Care Planning Facilitator – with a master's degree in nursing and a post-master's certificate in nursing education. Following a passion for helping people die well instead of getting caught up in unwanted and futile medical care, she sought further education in the end-of-life field and integrative thanatology in order to help community members plan, in advance, for a better experience of dying. She has been offering seminars and webinars to groups in the Pacific Northwest for almost 15 years.
This event is open to the public. Wheelchair accessible.
